IGG with the contributive members raised 11,686 dollars for the earthquake victims

Quake Card Closed

IGG will end the Quake Card sale from now on. Until 12:00pm on May 23rd (GMT-8), IGG raised a total of 11,686 dollars4500 dollars are from IGG members) . As promised, the contributions have been given to the earthquake victims and the Chinese Red Cross. Details are as follows.

The first contribution (1,686 dollars) was given to the Chinese Red Cross with the help of USA Mercy Corps on May 16th

The second contribution (5,000 dollars) was given to the Chinese Red Cross with the help of the American Red Cross on May 22nd.

The third contribution (itmes valued 5,000 dollars), including mouth masks and many different kinds of medicine, was given to the earthquake victims with the help of a third charity organization, OSSCCF (Overseas Save the Chinese Children Foundation) on May 23rd. Soldiers and doctors will receive these materials soon.

The death toll from China's recent earthquake has now increased to over 55,000, according to the Information Office of the State Council. Over 281,066 people have been injured and official numbers show that nearly 25,000 are missing as a result of the 8.0-magnitude quake that struck southwestern Sichuan Province on May 12.
The Chinese government responded quickly to the disaster, taking all steps to rescue as many victims as possible. Both Chinese president Hu Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao have visited the affected areas to the oversee rescue and relief work. What the government has done demonstrates one of its most important tenets: "Serve the People".

In addition, the Chinese people have showcased their resilience to the whole world. Countless volunteers have been doing whatever they can to help their fellow citizens, donating money, blood and visiting the area to assist the recovery operation. Meanwhile, many foreign countries showed their sympathy to the victims in China by donating money and sending essential supplies to the quake-hit areas.

So far, the total sum of supplies and money donated stands at over 21.5bn Chinese RMB.
