Progress
IGG had established a US$500,000 fund for the procurement of medical supplies since the. After several days of intensive work, we received two pieces of good news this morning.
First, we are pleased to announce that the first batch of medical supplies has safely arrived at Wuhan Union Hospital yesterday! This batch contains 61,200 disposable sterile surgical gloves and 1,300 surgical masks.
Another piece of good news is that IGG US has successfully purchased and delivered the first batch of N95 masks. The 5 boxes of masks (1200 total) made their way from Shanghai to The First Affiliated Hospital of College of Medicine (Zhejiang University). The dedicated hospital staff picked up the package personally, even though it was 4am in Hangzhou. These brave medical personnel are the real heroes in this fight. They deserve our utmost respect!
While Wuhan transportation lockdown aims to help stop the outbreak of the coronavirus, it also caused issues in transporting of medical supplies. Hospitals in and around the epicenter of China's coronavirus outbreak said they are running so low on medical supplies that the health of frontline medical care providers are put at great risk. The Fujian Province Medical Team are giving direct support to local hospitals in Wuhan, and they have also contacted IGG for help in securing much-needed medical supplies through our overseas resources. We responded to the request immediately by dispatching our overseas branches and domestic procurement teams source for these supplies. We will purchase and deliver the medical supplies once we confirm that they are medically-approved.
Overseas Teams Giving Support
IGG teams around the globe have teamed up. Let us brave this storm together.
Wasting no time, our US team is preparing to deliver their second batch (10 boxes) of supplies to ensure their availability in China. During this period, our US colleagues are driving many miles to pick up the supplies and deliver to the airport’s warehouse for packaging, documentation, and customs declaration.
Indonesia has just experienced a volcanic eruption, but our team there gave their full support nonetheless. The team found local suppliers that can provide 500,000 medically-approved masks. Once payment is completed tomorrow, they will be sent to China within the week.
A batch of 1 million medically-approved masks has arrived at IGG Brazil. The team is currently preparing this first batch of medical supplies for customs clearance. We expect it to be shipped out from Brazil this weekend. In light of recent developments, IGG Brazil put in an urgent order of 1 million more medically-approved masks to support the growing number of people in need.
The Japan team went to numerous pharmacies in Japan, to get medical supplies that would be helpful for the hospitals in China. At the moment, the Japan team has sourced 20,000 medically-approved surgical masks and will send them out tomorrow. Since the manufacturer of these masks also has a factory in the Guangxi region, a large batch will be delivered directly from Guangxi.
Our team in Belarus has sourced 300,000 medically-approved masks from suppliers. The suppliers are still preparing their stock; once they are ready, our team will proceed with the purchase.
As hospitals receiving aid can only accept medical supplies suited for domestic use, our colleagues in other countries (Korea, Turkey, Dubai, Canada and Spain) have been searching their local pharmacies for suitable items.
We are continuing our search, and will send more supplies to Wuhan as soon as we can.
We will get through this together. Stay safe, stay strong.
